The Women’s Resource
Center
When my fellow Auggie asks me where I work, I’m proud to say
the Women’s Resource Center. However, that question is generally followed up
with “What is the Women’s Resource Center?” Well, today my friends, I’m telling
you what we are all about!
The center was founded by the lovely Anne Pederson, rest in
peace, to give the women of Augsburg an informative safe haven. We have a wall
filled with different genres of literature to enrich a young females mind on
women issues and topics. We have a lounge with comfortable seating to relax in
while you sip on a complimentary hot beverage of your choice. The center is a
great place to do any studying or homework because we have a couch, comfortable
chairs, and a conference room that is calm and quiet. Whether or not you are a
woman, whether or not you are a feminist, come on in and see who we are and
what we do! Hey men, you can come in too! Condoms are provided as well as other
feminine products FOR FREE, which I know for us broke college students is very
helpful.
Not only do we provide such a great atmosphere for students,
we also host and sponsor many events around campus to promote and inform
students, staff, and faculty on different issues regarding women and feminism.
Last semester, we sponsored a lecture with The Smitten Kitten’s owner and
creator, Jennifer Pritchett, who educated and informed us all on the proper
usage of sex toys and what to look for when purchasing a sex toy. Very cool.
Not only do we organize these types of events, we offer services throughout the
semester like informative and relative film
showings, brown bag lunch discussions, and stress relieving seminars. Don’t be
shy and stop in! See what we have to offer you. All are welcome.
